Concept Cars and Cars to Come
Posted by genglish in Cars on 08 14th, 2011
Concept cars are prototypes of ideal cars. They are usually showcased for public exhibition. In the fiercely competitive world of car manufacturing, manufacturers are constantly designing and making special cars to show their ability to design and manufacture highly useful cars, built ahead of the times. As the name goes, such cars are purely conceptual in nature.
Why are concept cars conceptual?
Manufacturers of such cars do not go for mass production. This is because prototype cars are non-traditional and are made of very expensive materials or materials like paper or carbon fiber, mass production of which is not feasible. The designs and layouts of such cars are too fanciful to be implemented practically.
Purpose of designing concept cars:
Concept cars are made combining the best of modern technology with the highly effective and time-tested layouts of cars from the past. Reactions to such cars enable automobile companies feel the pulse of the market. The fanciness of the cars set the pace for future designs. Manufacturers come to know whether a car is acceptable or requires a few modifications before going to production. Cars which evince little interest are usually destroyed. Those which catch the imagination of the public are preserved as a strategy to expand the list of company patents.
Toyota Motor Corp. showcased 7 Toyota concept cars at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show. The cars unveiled by the company feature several groundbreaking and futuristic technologies. Among the concept cars showcased are the Fine-X and i-swing. While the former is a personal mobility vehicle the latter is a brand new fuel cell hybrid vehicle. The company has also showcased a prototype car, which has headlights that change intensity of light from dull to bright. The change in color reflects feeling of the driver, whether is happy, sad, or angry.
Among the 2009 concept cars Vision GLK Bluetec, the GLK compact crossover and Vision GLK Freeside are expected to be popular among the mass. Cheverolet will be launching the Chevrolet Camaro Convertile. Audi will introduce six new models in next three years. Audi Q7 SUV is the first of the six models. Audi r8 will make debut later this year. Other models are Audi A4, Audi A5, and Audi Q5. The last of the models which is shrouded in mystery is likely to be out after 2 years. To make its aging models come off age, Jaguar’s S type line-up is being replaced by Jaguar XF in 2009.

read comments (1)All Terrain Vehicles Make Hitting The Trails Easy And Fun
Posted by genglish in Motorcycles on 08 14th, 2011
As urban sprawl and suburban growth continue to crowd us more and more, the allure of open trails and roads less traveled becomes more and more appealing. While hiking and cycling offer a needed respite to many, others are drawn to the power, speed, versatility, and fun offered by all terrain vehicles. Unlike motorcycles, all terrain vehicles (ATV’s) sit on three or four wheels, and are easy enough for almost anyone to operate. Further, all terrain vehicles are easy to understand once you know a few simple basics.
Technically speaking, an all terrain vehicle is a small, open, three or four wheeled vehicle that is designed for off road travel. Those in the market for an ATV will quickly notice the paucity of three-wheeled versions on the market. Due to safety reasons – the three-wheelers had a tendency to tip over easily – only four-wheeled all terrain vehicles were legally produced from 1987 to 1997. Although it is again legal to produce the three-wheelers, very few have been produced.
Aside from the wheel configuration, all terrain vehicles can be divided into two distinct camps: sport models and utility models. Utility models are generally designed to haul small loads on racks or on attached trailer beds. While they may have an engine displacement similar or identical to a sport models, they are designed for more power and less speed. Sport models, on the other hand, are smaller, lighter, and faster, than their utility counterparts. Able to reach speeds as high as 90 miles per hour, some sport models are faster than many full sized cars.
With all that speed – literally at your fingertips – owners and operators of all terrain vehicles need to remember to put safety first. With engines as large as 800cc’s, these vehicles can be extremely powerful and they can accelerate quickly, making it easy to tip them over. While driving an ATV can be fun, functional, and exhilarating, it can be dangerous as well. Each year there are thousands of injuries, and hundreds of deaths, related to all terrain vehicles.
Despite the dangerous track record, all terrain vehicles can be safe and fun for those who follow basic safety precautions. With precautions in place all terrain vehicles provide a fun and fuel efficient way to hit the road, trail, or even hauling things around the farm. Lightweight, easy to store, fast, powerful, and fun; all terrain vehicles have earned their popularity through their utilitarian and recreational qualities.

Buying Used Cars
Posted by genglish in Cars on 08 11th, 2011
In our current economic situation, it is already a good decision if you buy yourself a used car rather than buy a new one. This is not just according to the economy, too. Even if you’re not tight on your budget and can afford to buy a new car, you will find that most used cars are better than the new ones. This is because used cars have undergone repairs and improvements that they can perform better than the new ones.
Searching For the Right Used Car: The first step you take in buying a used car is planning on what kind of car to buy. People usually already have an idea of what they want their car to be. But it would also be wise to expand your options to other types of cars.
Focus on how you want the car to be and from there think of the different kinds of cars that would fit your description. Start with the general descriptions of the car like the size, the number of people it can hold, even the color if you want. Then you look up on the kinds of cars that fit well with you general descriptions.
From the general outlook, you can then go deeper into specific details – engine, horsepower, hybrid, etc. Find out the details about the cars on your list then hold onto the ones that fit your dream car the most. You should also take a good look at the history of the used cars you’ve found when car shopping.
Money Talks: The next thing to think about after you’ve settled on your list of potential used cars is financing it. Make sure you can afford to buy the used cars on your list. If one of them goes beyond your budget then you’ll have to let go of it.
There are three kinds of payments that you have to consider when you buy a used car: the monthly payment, down payment, and the purchase price. In choosing a car, you’ll have to consider these three to not make a mess of financing for your car each month. Consider how much you’re willing to pay as down payment and if you can meet the monthly installments.
Testing Before Closing the Deal: Before you say yes to a deal, it’s recommended that you study the chosen car’s history again. Inquire about the repairs and improvements made on the used car. Take it for a test drive, too, and take a feel on how compatible the car is with you. Comfort is part of what you should look for in a car.
After testing it, and after considering its history and the price, you can go on with the negotiations and finally close the deal. Don’t forget to go through the insurance process for your car. Dealerships usually have the finance and insurance process.
You might not have the newest car on the block. But buying a used car gives you the knowledge that you’ve somehow made a great deal and have efficiently saved some money.

Electric Cars and Rising Gasoline Prices
Posted by genglish in Cars on 08 9th, 2011
Rising gasoline prices may just make other forms of alternative means of transportation become more attractive. One of the ways not to be affected by the rising prices of gas is to have an alternative means of travel. Of course, saving up on gasoline use may help in some way, but such actions may still leave one affected with the rising prices of gas. A better way would be trying to use a mode of transportation aside from one that makes use of fuel aside from gasoline. One such example is the use of an electric car.
An electric car is one type of an alternative vehicle. It makes use of electricity as its primary power source. Instead of an internal combustion engine, the electric car, also commonly called as an EV or electric vehicle, has an electric motor to make the vehicle move. It is an alternative fuel vehicle that does not use refined fossil oil for fuel.
Electric cars get electricity for power by means of electric battery packs built on board. One of the advantages of using electric vehicles or EV’s is that they are environmentally friendly. Unlike fossil fuel that emits a number of pollutants into the air when being used, the use of electricity for power does not do so, except that the power plants that may produce them do. But with using electric cars, the emission of harmful pollutants may be reduced substantially. Less cars using fossils fuel and gasoline would help make this possible. And someday, when more electric power is sourced from nuclear, solar, wind and hydro-electric power plants, pollutant emissions will even be reduced more.
Performance-wise, electric cars offer smoother and noiseless operation that cars relying on gasoline. Electric cars provide stronger acceleration and the electric motor requires lesser maintenance than the internal combustion engines of cars using gasoline and other fossil fuels. By using electricity through batteries, energy conversion is more efficient. Electric motors makes use of 75 percent of the chemical energy converted into electricity to run the car. Internal combustion engines or ICE’s only are able to make use about 20 percent of the energy stored in gasoline to power the vehicle.
If most think that the electric car is a recent invention, then they are mistaken. The electric vehicle is in fact one of the earliest vehicles known to exist. Small electric powered vehicles even predate the development of the diesel and gasoline engines. The earliest electric carriage was built between 1832 and 1839. The development of other electric cars also increased for some time during the 1860′s along with the improvement of the storage battery. It was even the electric cars that held many of the speed and distance records during this time. But unfortunately, the advent of the internal combustion engines came during the early 1900′s, which led to the decrease in the use of electric cars.
With the appearance of the more powerful and affordable diesel and gasoline powered cars starting in the early 1900′s, the market for electric cars slowly disappeared. Although there were still electric cars being made, those that do exist were being produced for specialized applications. One of the most common use for the electric vehicle today may be found in the golf carts as a primary mode of compact transport in golf courses. But because of the rising gasoline prices as well as the worsening pollution, there has been an renewed demand for the less polluting alternative electric vehicles in recent years.

Buy Seized Cars for Sale – Where to Buy Cheap Used Cars Online
Posted by genglish in Cars on 08 5th, 2011
There are several ways to buy cheap cars. You can buy cheap used cars from second hand car dealers, check the classified ads for cars on sale or use ebay where there are people selling cheap cars.
However, one of the best ways to save money on cars is through seized car auctions. You can buy seized cars for sale at a cheap price.
Most cars that are up on seized car auctions are repossessed or seized cars. Therefore, sometimes, the cars are still in relatively good condition. There are wide selections of seized cars available these days in repo car auctions.
These days, the number of vehicles seized by the government have grown exponentially to the point where the government can’t afford to keep and maintain all the seized cars since it cost money.
Therefore, you can find many cheap car deals on repo car auctions. They need to get rid of these seized cars as soon as possible to free up space for more repossessed cars. So it is not uncommon to buy seized cars that are still relatively new and cost only 10% to 50% of the current market price.
These seized car auctions are held all over the country though the dates are sometimes difficult to find out. You can search classified ads in your local newspaper where sometimes, they will post an ad.
Another way to find these seized car auctions is online. There are several websites that are dedicated to listing the latest seized car auctions in your area. Sometimes, they will also provide the latest seized car auction listings, bid offers, starting prices and so on.
This provides a good way of knowing which model of cars are on auctions and their prices before you even need to go the auto auction.
Buying seized cars for sale is certainly one of the lesser known ways of buying cheap cars. Many people actually use this to start a business of buying and selling cars.
